We're looking for compassionate, reliable, and resilient people to join our Waikato team as Casual Tamariki Support Workers (Resource Workers) . About the role As a Tamariki Support Worker, you'll play an important part in providing practical care, support, and stability for tamariki and rangatahi when they need it most. No two days are the same. Depending on the needs of tamariki and whānau, your responsibilities may include: Transporting tamariki to and from school, appointments, activities, and respite placements. Providing care and support when tamariki are temporarily unable to be with their whānau. Supervising contact visits between tamariki and their parents, siblings, and wider whānau. Writing clear and accurate observations and reports following contact visits. Supporting Social Workers when required. Occasionally travelling within the region, with optional overnight stays where needed. This is a flexible, casual position that offers a variety of short-term and block assignments, including some evening and weekend work. What we're looking for We're seeking people who are caring, adaptable, and able to build positive connections with tamariki from diverse backgrounds. You'll bring: A genuine passion for supporting tamariki, rangatahi, and whānau. Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations. Experience working with children or young people, particularly those with complex or additional needs. Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to gain the trust of tamariki. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Sound judgement, professionalism, and a high level of integrity. Flexibility to work across varying shifts, including weekends. A full, clean New Zealand Driver Licence. The legal right to work in New Zealand. An appreciation and understanding of Te Ao Māori, tikanga Māori, and Pacific cultures. Why join Oranga Tamariki?
