Job Description

We are seeking a part‑time (0.2 FTE) permanent Postgraduate Lecturer – Nursing to join our School of Nursing. This role plays a vital part in delivering high‑quality postgraduate nursing education, supporting registered nurses to advance their professional practice and academic achievement. Working closely with the Head of School, Programme Coordinators, academic staff, students, and external healthcare stakeholders, the role contributes to student success through teaching, assessment, curriculum development, research, and professional leadership. The position supports educational excellence, cultural responsiveness, and meeting the evolving needs of the health sector. The appointing salary for this role will be between $89,639 and $100,915 (pro‑rated to the 0.2 FTE), dependent on skills and experience. The Postgraduate Lecturer – Nursing is based in the School of Nursing and reports to the Head of School and will be responsible for: Teaching and facilitating learning within postgraduate nursing programmes, including blended and online delivery. Developing, reviewing, and updating course content, learning materials, and assessments. Providing academic guidance and support to students to enhance learning outcomes. Participating in curriculum development and contributing to new programme and course initiatives. Engaging in research and scholarly activities while contributing to the Faculty’s research culture. To be successful in this role you will have: Current registration as a Registered Nurse with a current Nursing Council of New Zealand practising certificate. A Master’s degree or higher qualification in a relevant field. Highly developed oral, written, computing, organisational, and interpersonal skills. Understanding of and commitment to cultural safety, Mātauranga Māori, and creating culturally responsive learning environments. Extensive nursing practice experience, with tertiary teaching and curriculum development experience being advantageous.
