Job Description
Hospitality Tutor Location: Hamilton, New Zealand. Full‑time, fixed‑term (6 months) on site. About the role As a Hospitality Tutor at NZMA Hamilton, you will deliver the Level 3 Hospitality programme and provide students with the practical skills and industry knowledge needed for success in the hospitality sector. You will teach core areas such as café and barista service, food safety and hygiene, and function and event service. By drawing on your industry experience, you will combine practical training with real‑world insights, helping students build confidence, develop professional behaviours and acquire the skills employers value. You will mentor and support learners throughout their journey, empowering them to achieve their goals and transition successfully into employment or further study within the hospitality industry. Deliver Level 3 Hospitality coursework, including café, barista, food safety, hygiene, and function service modules. Create a positive and supportive learning environment. Combine industry experience with academic instruction to provide real‑world insights. Mentor and support learners, facilitating confidence and professional development. Assist students in transitioning to employment or further study. Qualifications Recent experience in the hospitality industry, including café and barista operations, with a minimum of two years in a supervisory or leadership role. Level 4 or above qualification in Hospitality or a related field. Demonstrated barista skills and knowledge of café service standards. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling engagement, motivation and inspiration of learners from diverse backgrounds. Passion for developing others and supporting students in achieving their goals. Previous teaching experience is advantageous but not essential.
