We are looking for Test Engineers/Analysts with a practical, tinkering mindset to join our specialist Computer Network Operations (CNO) Research & Development team. Our CNO Test function sits alongside the CNO DevOps Engineers and goes beyond traditional testing – it provides the hardware‑centric, automation‑driven validation that underpins the full lifecycle of the GCSB's CNO capabilities, a critical enabler of the agency's intelligence mission. Role Overview In this role, you will work hand‑in‑hand with CNO R&D Engineers, Developers, infrastructure and operations, to design, build and execute repeatable test campaigns at speed and scale. Together with DevOps, you will share ownership of the automation frameworks and test rigs, keep the CNO environment reliable, secure and ready for rapid capability evolution, while feeding verified results into the release and deployment process. Qualifications Working knowledge and relevant experience in software and/or hardware testing, preferably with mobile devices, apps or operating systems Proven experience executing systematic and reproducible testing procedures Understanding of the design and implementation of automation and testing frameworks Scripting level software development, python skills desirable Cyber security concepts and vulnerabilities, exploit techniques and methods for their remediation desirable A degree of experience with DevOps and Software Development processes Strong ability to collaborate across teams, with excellent written and oral skills Eagerness to learn and grow in an exciting and challenging technical environment Benefits Flexible hours, as your work/life balance is important to us Four weeks annual leave plus some additional days for your wellbeing Gym, social clubs and events Medical insurance and Vision Care package Professional development opportunities – we are committed to ongoing learning and continuous improvement Our commitment to developing and maintaining a workforce that offers different ideas, perspectives, and cultural experiences. Eligibility Requirements Have been a New Zealand Citizen for at least 10 years OR Hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of the UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years Be eligible to obtain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance.
