About the Role We are looking for a commercially driven Underwriter – BDM to join our team. This role blends hands‑on underwriting with business development, giving you ownership of a portfolio while building and strengthening broker relationships to drive growth. You will play a key role in identifying new business opportunities, delivering tailored underwriting solutions, and contributing to the continued success of UANZ in the market. Responsibilities Relationship‑driven, with a strong ability to build trusted partnerships Commercially minded with a focus on growth and opportunity Highly organised and able to manage competing priorities Strong communicator across a range of stakeholders Demonstrates our values of Integrity, Innovation, Connection, Resilience and Growth Qualifications Experience in underwriting, broking, or a similar commercial insurance role Strong understanding of insurance products and risk assessment Proven ability to build and maintain broker relationships Commercial acumen and an understanding of market dynamics Strong negotiation and decision‑making skills High proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel Ability to work collaboratively across teams within the UAA Group Required Skills Experience in underwriting, broking, or a similar commercial insurance role Strong understanding of insurance products and risk assessment Proven ability to build and maintain broker relationships Commercial acumen and an understanding of market dynamics Strong negotiation and decision‑making skills High proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel Ability to work collaboratively across teams within the UAA Group Preferred Skills Experience in underwriting, broking, or a similar commercial insurance role Strong understanding of insurance products and risk assessment Proven ability to build and maintain broker relationships Commercial acumen and an understanding of market dynamics Strong negotiation and decision‑making skills High proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel Ability to work collaboratively across teams within the UAA Group At UANZ, we believe in supporting and growing our people.
