About the Role We are looking for a passionate and experienced Diabetes Specialist Dietitian to join our team in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care across the Taranaki region. In this vital role, you’ll provide expert nutrition support and education to individuals living with diabetes and their whānau, helping to empower them toward effective self-management. Working as part of an integrated care model, you’ll collaborate closely with partner organisations and healthcare teams across a range of settings. Your ability to tailor assessments and interventions to meet the holistic needs of patients, along with your strong communication skills, will be key to engaging with diverse communities and improving health outcomes. The Diabetes Specialist Dietitian works closely with Hospital and Specialist Services, General Practitioner (GP) Services and partner organisations (Tui Ora, Ngāruahine Iwi Authority, Ngāti Ruanui Tahua Ltd and Pinnacle Midlands Health Network). About the Team and Location The Taranaki Diabetes Integrated Team has two primary functions: Comprehensive Clinical & Psychosocial Intervention – Providing clinical expertise and psychosocial support to directly manage patients with diabetes with the aim of discharging them back to primary care as appropriate. Enhancement & Capability Support – Provide support, education and training for both health professionals and patients, guided by the needs of primary care and Māori providers, to ensure patients with diabetes receive high quality and consistent clinical care and health information. About you To be successful in this role, you will be a NZ Registered Dietitian with a current APC and also have: A full and current driver’s licence. Minimum of 5 years postgraduate experience in clinical, primary care and community settings. Recent clinical experience in diabetes management. Commitment to achieving health equity for Māori. The ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Previous experience in patient and staff education. Maintain safe cultural practice and develop your cultural knowledge.
