Child Health Service, Whangarei and Rural Hospitals – Permanent part‑time role (0.6 FTE) working 24 hours per week between Monday and Friday. About the Role The Nurse Practitioner role is an expert nurse within Child Health incorporating advanced knowledge and skills. In this role, you will practise both independently and in collaboration with other healthcare professionals to promote health, prevent disease and diagnose, assess and manage tamariki’s health needs. Key Responsibilities Provide care to tamariki with a focus on assessing, diagnosing, treating, empowering and supporting patients/tūroro/tangata whai ora and their whānau using evidenced‑based knowledge and skills to achieve optimal health outcomes. Focus on complex patient/tūroro/tangata whai ora management to reduce disease progression, enable equity of access, promote wellness, limit disease, and prevent avoidable hospital admissions. Work autonomously while collaborating with other providers, including Māori health providers, Pacific health providers, other district health services and primary health care. Provide expert clinical leadership that builds a highly skilled nursing workforce and fosters a supportive and collegial workplace culture. About the Team/Service/Location As part of a multi‑disciplinary team, you will work in a supportive and welcoming environment located in the Child Health Centre on the Whangarei Hospital campus. The Child Health Centre Clinic provides paediatric outpatient services for children from all over Northland, including paediatrician, allied health and nurse‑led clinics. We are dedicated to addressing health inequities for Māori and creating a positive impact on the lives of children. About you Registration with the Nursing Council of NZ and a current Annual Practicing Certificate as a Nurse Practitioner. Minimum of 4 years of experience in the specific area of practice. Completion of an approved clinical Masters degree. A personal commitment to ongoing learning and development. Research skills including data analysis, critical appraisal skills and clinical audit. Excellent presentation and communication skills (verbal and written), including report writing. Loving working with tamariki and their whānau. Interest in allergy desirable.
