Job Description
We're working with a respected New Zealand organisation that's investing heavily in cyber security and looking for a hands‑on Security Engineer to join the team. This is an opportunity to work across cloud, infrastructure and security operations, helping to protect critical systems while driving continuous improvement across the environment. What You'll Be Doing Monitor, investigate and respond to security incidents, threats and vulnerabilities across the technology estate. Design and implement security controls to strengthen cloud, network and endpoint security. Partner with engineering and infrastructure teams to embed security into projects and operational processes. Lead vulnerability management activities, working with stakeholders to prioritise and remediate risk. Manage and optimise key security technologies, including Microsoft security tooling, firewalls and email protection. Identify opportunities to automate, improve and mature security capabilities across the organisation. What You'll Bring Around 3–5 years' experience in a Security Engineer, Security Analyst or Security Operations role. Strong knowledge of Microsoft security technologies, including Defender, Sentinel and Entra ID, or equivalent cloud security platforms. Experience with network security, firewalls, endpoint protection and vulnerability management. Working knowledge of Azure, Windows and Linux environments. Exposure to scripting or automation using tools such as Python or Ansible would be advantageous. Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across technical and business teams. Understanding of secure coding principles and software quality practices. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Experience working within Agile delivery environments.
