Waikato Hospital, Critical Care - Hamilton, New Zealand Hours: 40 hours per week (1.0FTE) + on‑call Remuneration: NZ$250,000 – NZ$380,000+ depending on qualifications and experience About the Role Waikato Hospitals Intensive Care Unit is undergoing significant expansion this year, and we have exciting opportunities for single‑ or dual‑trained Intensivists to join our evolving service. This is a dynamic time to contribute to a growing department with a strong focus on clinical excellence, education, and innovation. In addition to your clinical role, you’ll have opportunities to pursue academic and research interests, and to support the training and development of both junior and senior medical staff. Benefits Average call duties and availability allowance of approximately 45‑55% of base salary 6% superannuation $16,000 annual CME allowance 6 weeks annual leave plus 2 weeks CME leave Generous relocation support Full assistance with registration, relocation, and immigration A recruitment allowance is currently being offered About our Critical Care Department The Critical Care Department at Waikato Hospital is the tertiary provider for Intensive Care to the Midland region of New Zealand. Our 16‑bed state‑of‑the‑art ICU provides all major tertiary services including major trauma, cardiac surgery (second largest in NZ), neurosurgery, regional burns, and busy general and paediatric intensive care. We manage around 1,500 ICU patients and nearly 3,000 HDU patients annually and operate an air and road retrieval service for both critical care and a large contingency of cardiac patients. Clinicians joining our team will have opportunities to pursue academic and research interests, and to contribute to the training of both junior and senior medical staff. Subspecialty interests—including cardiac, paediatrics, and academia—are supported and welcomed. About You Required skills and experience: Hold or be eligible for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand in the scope of practice of Intensive Care Medicine and must be of good standing. Hold FCICM, or UK FICM with CCT or equivalent qualifications.
