Consultant Urologist – Dunedin Hospital Permanent part‑time (0.8–1.0 FTE) position. Salary based on ASMS MECA 2024 (NZD 185,380–267,980) pro rata. FTE negotiable for overseas candidates to accommodate visa requirements. About the role The Otago urology service, based at Dunedin Public Hospital, seeks a permanent part‑time Consultant Urologist. The service delivers inpatient, outpatient and community care to the Otago catchment area, with opportunities to run clinics and carry out simple surgery in centres such as Queenstown, Alexandra, and Oamaru. The role includes a 1:4 on‑call rotation with existing urologists and collaboration with a senior urology trainee, two non‑training junior doctors, and a senior specialist nursing team. The hospital provides 24‑hour interventional radiology support, full ICU and HDU facilities, and close partnership with oncology and nephrology departments. Academic activity is available – teaching medical students and academic FTE opportunities for the right candidate. Clinical focus areas: urology oncology, endourology (stones), laparoscopic procedures, and management of BPE and LUTS. Responsibilities Provide high‑quality, patient‑centred care. Shared responsibility for the day‑to‑day management of the service and participation in strategic planning. Teaching and training within the multidisciplinary team. Active involvement in multidisciplinary team meetings and clinical governance. Active participation in continuing medical education.
