About the Role We are seeking registered health professionals to join our friendly and supportive Mental Health Assessment and Home Treatment Team (MHAHT) within Community Mental Health and Addiction Services at the Whanganui Hospital, New Zealand. This role provides an opportunity to utilise and further develop your acute clinical skills within a recovery-focused environment while working alongside a skilled multidisciplinary team. The Mental Health Assessment and Home Treatment Team provides: Mental health crisis phone triage Urgent mental health assessments Crisis resolution interventions Intensive short‑term home treatment and support Community‑based treatment and care for tangata whaiora experiencing acute mental health challenges This is a rewarding role where no two days are the same. You will work collaboratively with tangata whaiora, whānau, and community partners to provide responsive, culturally safe, and recovery‑focused care. To be successful in this role, you will bring: Registration with an appropriate health professional body A current New Zealand Annual Practising Certificate Experience working in acute and/or community mental health services Comprehensive assessment and intervention skills Strong communication and relationship‑building skills The ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team A commitment to culturally safe, partnership‑focused practice A willingness to become a Duly Authorised Officer, or current Duly Authorised Officer status A strong commitment to supporting tangata whaiora and whānau to achieve positive wellbeing outcomes About the Team/Service/Location: Community Mental Health and Addiction Services provides specialist mental health and addiction services across the Whanganui region.
