About the Role This is a Permanent role based in Wellington, Auckland or Christchurch. We're looking for an experienced Senior Life and Disability Claims Adviser who brings sound judgement, empathy, and a collaborative mindset to a complex and rewarding role. Responsibilities Managing a portfolio of life and disability claims end to end, with a primary focus on Disability Income claims Assessing new claims and making fair, well‑reasoned entitlement decisions Managing claims through their full lifecycle, including ongoing assessment and resolution Working closely with Members, internal advisers and medical professionals to understand each situation fully Actively supporting rehabilitation and return‑to‑work outcomes where appropriate Keeping Members informed with clear, timely and empathetic communication Maintaining accurate documentation Contributing to team discussions, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement Qualifications A background in insurance, health, ACC or a related field. Required Skills Strong experience in Life and/or Disability Income claims management Confidence managing complex or long‑duration claims from end to end Strong capability in financial assessments and determining claim entitlements Sound judgement and the ability to make balanced, well‑reasoned decisions in line with policy wording and consistent application of terms A genuine empathy for Members and the ability to navigate sensitive situations Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships Experience working with medical professionals, advisers or rehabilitation providers A proven ability to support and mentor others in the team, contributing to capability uplift and knowledge sharing We'd ideally love to see someone at a senior level, but we're also open to strong intermediate candidates ready to step up.
