Job title: Cook – Sigta Traders Limited (T/A Swad Swad Amritsari) . Pay: $27.00 – $32.00 per hour, based on experience. Minimum 30 hours per week guaranteed. Key Duties and Responsibilities Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to event menus, client requirements, and dietary needs. Season and cook food to achieve desired flavour and presentation, ensuring accurate portioning and consistent plating. Ensure all food is prepared and presented in accordance with company quality standards. Assist in menu planning, portion control, and cost management. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including all work surfaces, utensils, and equipment. Monitor stock levels and assist in ordering ingredients and supplies as needed. Assess expected guest numbers and coordinate with suppliers to ensure sufficient ingredients and resources are available. Adhere to all food safety, hygiene, and health regulations at all times. Collaborate with kitchen and service staff to ensure timely preparation and delivery of meals for functions and events. Set up and pack down food stations, buffets, and catering displays for events. Manage food storage and labeling to prevent spoilage and ensure freshness. Support the Head Chef or Catering Manager in coordinating kitchen operations during large‑scale events. Maintain a professional attitude and represent the company positively when working at client venues. Skills, Qualifications, and Requirements Relevant NZQF Level4 qualification (e.g., Certificate in Cookery) or overseas equivalent. Alternatively, at least 1–2 years of relevant work experience, including experience in a cafe, restaurant, or catering setting. Sound knowledge and practical experience in Indian cuisine is advantageous. Ability to prepare and cook a variety of meals, including following standard recipes and special dietary requirements. Flexible to work split shifts (lunch and dinner), weekends, and public holidays as required. Demonstrated reliability, honesty, and dedication to performing responsibilities to a high standard. Physically fit and able to handle the workload and pressures of a busy kitchen environment. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to coordinate effectively with team members and clients. Knowledge of workplace safety, food safety, and hygiene standards, with ability to maintain a safe and clean kitchen environment.
