About the Role Based at Christchurch Hospital, 0.8FTE (32 hours per week). Permanent position with a rotating/social roster - Morning, Afternoon and Night, Monday to Sunday. As a Registered Nurse in Ward 11 you will be caring for a mix of head and neck, ophthalmology, maxillo-facial and general surgery patients. We are looking for a Registered Nurse who will provide patient‑centered care, including assessing health needs, administering treatments and providing emotional support to patients and their whanau. Key Responsibilities Managing patient admissions and discharges Coordinating with a multidisciplinary team Confident practitioner with exceptional patient assessment skills and knowledge Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with a wide variety of people Flexible and adaptable with the ability to cover shifts Adhering to cultural safety guidelines and Te Tiriti o Waitangi Maintaining a safe environment by managing risks and completing incident reports Qualifications Strong communication and organizational skills Current Annual Practising Certificate from the New Zealand Nursing Council About the Service Ward 11 is a 27‑bed unit based at Christchurch Hospital. We provide care to a variety of adult patients who are admitted under Otolaryngology, Ophthalmology and Maxillo‑facial services in addition to outlying services from other areas of the hospital. You will be working with patients who require surgical and non‑surgical management of their conditions in addition to caring for patients with altered airways and altered communication requirements. We offer a supportive environment with input and support from the Nurse Educator and Clinical Nurse Specialist to enhance both clinical provision of care and professional development. We will provide a thorough orientation package and ongoing support to develop the skills required to work in this exciting specialty.
