Job Description

University of Otago Engagement Coordinator – Sustainability Office The University of Otago is New Zealand’s oldest university and a leader in sustainability research and practice. We are looking for an Engagement Coordinator to support and nurture a culture of sustainability among students, working within our Sustainability Strategic Framework. The role will act as a coordination point for student engagement initiatives across the University, improving awareness and knowledge of sustainable practices, encouraging belonging, and advancing the culture of sustainability at Otago. Key Responsibilities Facilitate, promote, plan and coordinate interventions and activities that support student sustainability engagement. Lead engagement programmes with a track record of strong social and environmental outcomes. Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholder groups. Prioritise and deliver multiple projects successfully. Qualifications Hands‑on experience leading engagement programmes with demonstrable outcomes. Advanced communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent IT and social media literacy with an eye for design. Ability to prioritise and manage multiple concurrent projects. Experience researching and critically analysing relevant information. Experience working in a tertiary sector or familiarity with a university environment is preferred. Awareness of current trends in sustainability communication, engagement and behaviour change programmes is an asset. Right to live and work in New Zealand. Employment Details Full‑time (37.5 hours per week). Fixed term contract: July 2026 to June 2027. Location: Ōtepoti, Dunedin. Salary range: $69,931 to $74,609, with a top of range $80,285.
