About the company At Transpower, we own and operate the National Grid – the high‑voltage transmission network that carries electricity around the country. Our work is nationally significant, technically complex and essential to powering NewZealand’s homes, businesses, communities and economy. About the team The Inventory and Logistics team manages Transpower’s inventory, warehouse facilities and supporting analytics. The team ensures the right equipment, critical materials and services are available for maintenance and grid project delivery. Opportunity Due to an internal promotion, we are looking for a Purchasing Coordinator to support Strategic Procurement, Grid Delivery and Engineering. You’ll create and manage purchase orders in Maximo and FMIS, coordinate with suppliers and freight forwarders, and support purchasing for maintenance and project delivery across the National Grid. This specialist, technically varied purchasing role involves long‑lead items such as transformers, substation equipment, protection and communications materials, transmission line materials and cabling. You’ll also keep purchase orders moving, provide timely updates on project materials, support item coding and master data maintenance, and contribute to continuous improvement across the Inventory and Purchasing function. Qualifications ~3 or more years of purchasing or relevant industry experience Strong attention to detail with the ability to stay organised and follow through Confidence using purchasing and finance systems, including reporting tools Strong data, analysis and Microsoft Excel skills Experience with Maximo is an advantage Excellent communication, customer service and stakeholder management skills Experience working with suppliers, logistics, freight forwarders or inventory functions Benefits We work in the office or on‑site for a minimum of three days each week, offering flexibility for both personal and professional commitments with adaptable daily start and finish times.
