About the Team / Service / Location Waitematā Emergency Departments at North Shore and Waitākere serve the largest district by population in the country with a diverse range of presentations. As a service we are committed to a culture of high performance, clinical innovation and teamwork. At NorthShoreHospital (NSH) you will serve a population with good access to primary care. We have an admission rate of approximately 35%. One third of the presentations are over65, so your challenges will include dealing with acutely unwell or injured older adults, where your immediate interventions will have a profound effect on patient outcomes. At WaitākereHospital (WTH) you will work in one of the fastest growing, multicultural EDs in the country, with a significant paediatric population. At WTHED you will need to lead and provide resuscitative care and arrange transport for all deteriorating patients without the direct involvement of speciality services like ICU because these are based at NSH. This role gives you a unique opportunity to work across two sites offering exposure to two very different patient populations. Both sites have an annual presentation rate of around50,000 emergency patients. For the non‑specialist roles, you will be supported by a team of Emergency Medicine specialist physicians. For specialist positions, the Fellowship of the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine or a similar higher training qualification is required for vocations registration with the Medical Council of NewZealand. For non‑specialist senior doctor positions, reasonable experience working or training in Emergency Medicine is required. Eligibility Possess a Medical Degree registrable with the Medical Council of NewZealand. For non‑specialist senior doctor positions – have reasonable experience working or training in Emergency Medicine. For specialist positions – have the Fellowship of the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine or a similar higher training qualification eligible for vocations registration with the Medical Council of NewZealand.
