About the role The Alcohol & Other Drugs (AOD) Clinician provides high‑quality, evidence‑based assessment and treatment to consumers with primary addiction issues, ensuring services meet professional, service and community expectations. This role works with people who often experience complex, co‑existing needs, including mental health and physical health concerns. In addition to working with people with general addiction problems, the position will also involve case management for some Opioid Substitution Treatment (OST) consumers, working closely with specialist prescribers within the Rata AOD Service. Caseloads are agreed jointly between the Rata AOD Manager and the AOD Clinician. You will work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, delivering flexible, consumer‑centred and culturally responsive care. Key responsibilities Clinical practice Provide specialist alcohol and drug assessment and treatment services using evidence‑based approaches Prioritise and action referrals appropriately and in a timely manner Undertake comprehensive assessments including risk assessment, mental health screening and general health assessment Consult and coordinate with specialist mental health services when co‑existing mental health concerns are identified Develop and implement care plans with positive, measurable consumer outcomes Provide assertive and flexible case management in line with agreed caseloads Participate in duty rosters as first point of contact for referrals and general enquiries when required About you NZ Registered Health Professional with a current Practising Certificate Demonstrated commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and bicultural practice Experience working in alcohol and other drugs and/or mental health settings Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team Strong communication, negotiation and relationship‑building skills Ability to develop and maintain effective professional networks Commitment to ongoing professional development and training Basic computer literacy and ability to learn clinical systems Current full driver’s licence (manual driving may be required) Knowledge of Opioid Substitution Treatment (OST) and relevant regulatory frameworks Experience with professional supervision Ability to apply Motivational Interviewing in clinical practice Qualifications or experience in adult education or training Willingness to support and participate in the Pacific Peoples Health Charter Job no: PC4068504 Location: Greymouth, Buller and Northern Areas #J-18808-Ljbffr
