Ko te āhua o te tūranga | About the Role We’re looking for an experienced Platform / PaaS Developer to join Sharesies’ Platform as a Service (PaaS) team. This team sits at the centre of developer experience and service enablement, powering the tooling and infrastructure that allows the business to scale new offerings rapidly and safely. With strong foundations already in place, the focus is now shifting towards self‑service infrastructure, AI‑enabled developer workflows, and building scalable “golden paths” for performance, reliability, and operational excellence. You’ll be joining a well‑established team of six (including a lead, staff and senior engineers), working closely with the wider engineering function to design and build internal platforms, guardrails, and tooling that reduce friction and improve delivery speed. You Will Be Building and improving internal platform tooling and services Designing self‑service infrastructure and enabling teams to move faster Embedding observability, performance, and reliability into the platform Contributing to AI‑enabled workflows and operational improvements Collaborating closely with engineering teams to bring them on the journey Influencing how platform engineering evolves within Sharesies Tauwāhi | Location & flexibility Wellington is preferred, however Auckland based candidates and flexible working arrangements are considered. New starters are expected to spend time in Wellington initially to become well embedded in the team and culture. Mōu | About You You’re someone who enjoys working at the systems level and enabling others to do their best work. We are looking for someone comfortable operating in a fast‑moving, high‑growth environment where priorities can shift quickly, and who is product‑mindful in their approach, focused on enabling users, iterating quickly, and driving real‑world value. Essential Skills Experience in platform engineering Experience in programming and building internal tooling Experience with database operations and performance analysis (PostgreSQL preferred) Experience building and maintaining containerised services in cloud environments Experience with observability and monitoring using tools like Datadog or similar Good communication and people skills, including mentoring other staff, and reviewing work Nice To Have Skills Architecting cloud platforms Implementing, integrating, and operating CI/CD tools Terraform Operating Cloudflare or similar CDN services AWS platform in general (EC2, ECS, S3, ELB, RDS etc) Beyond the tech You think in systems and enjoy solving complex problems You communicate well and can work across teams You’re comfortable operating in a fast‑moving, high growth environment You’re product‑mindful in your approach, focused on enabling users You’re curious, pragmatic, and focused on building things that genuinely add value You’re comfortable leaning into AI as a tool to accelerate real value You don’t need to tick every box; mindset, adaptability and approach matter just as much as technical experience.
