About the Role As Project Manager, you'll lead the planning, development, implementation, and oversight of medium to large, complex projects across the Planning, Funding & Outcomes portfolio. Working across multidisciplinary teams, you'll ensure projects are strategically aligned, well governed, delivered on time and within budget, while achieving measurable improvements in health outcomes and equitable access to services. You'll develop robust project plans, manage governance and reporting, oversee budgets and risks, drive change management activities, and provide high-quality advice through business cases, briefings, reports, and presentations. Success in this role will come from your ability to build trusted relationships, influence diverse stakeholders, navigate complexity, and keep projects moving towards successful outcomes. About the Team Planning, Funding & Outcomes (PFO) plays a critical role in designing, commissioning, funding, and improving health services across New Zealand. We work collaboratively across Health New Zealand and with external partners to ensure services are equitable, sustainable, and centred on the needs of the communities we serve. About you You're an experienced project professional who combines strategic thinking with exceptional delivery skills. You enjoy working across organisations, bringing people together around a common purpose, and delivering projects that improve outcomes for communities. A relevant tertiary or professional qualification in project management, business, health, or a related discipline. At least five years' experience successfully managing medium to large, complex projects within healthcare, commissioning, service design, or the public sector. Demonstrated success delivering projects on time, within scope and budget. Strong experience establishing effective governance frameworks, project controls, and reporting processes. Excellent knowledge of project and programme management methodologies and best practice. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, risks, dependencies, and competing deadlines. Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, with experience working alongside clinicians, providers, iwi, consumers, senior leaders, and cross-sector partners. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex information and translate it into practical recommendations. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing reports, business cases, executive briefings, and governance papers. Experience leading organisational change and supporting successful implementation of new ways of working. Advanced Microsoft Office skills and experience using project management tools. A collaborative leadership style with excellent relationship-building and influencing capability. A commitment to equity and an understanding of how to apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in practice.
