Tradestaff Global is seeking Expressions of Interest from experienced Project Engineers for a senior water infrastructure role in the Pacific Islands (not PNG). This is a live-in role on a 5-year project, suited to someone with a civil or structural engineering background and proven experience in construction or construction supervision of urban water supply and/or sewerage systems. The successful person will be involved in supporting construction delivery, site supervision, technical coordination, quality checks and project reporting across essential water and sanitation infrastructure works. This role requires someone who is practical, technically strong and confident working with contractors, consultants, project teams and key stakeholders in a remote project environment. ABOUT OUR CLIENT Our client works on complex infrastructure projects in remote island locations, supporting practical delivery, technical planning and stakeholder engagement. Their projects are focused on essential services and long-term outcomes for local communities. From early-stage planning through to final delivery, they take on challenging projects where precision, experience and technical know‑how matter. As their presence in the Pacific continues to grow, they are looking for an experienced Project Engineer to help with key projects in this evolving region. THE ROLE You’ll be working closely with project managers, site teams, subcontractors, clients, consultants, local companies, local trades and wider project stakeholders. Construction supervision of water infrastructure works. Supporting delivery of urban water supply and/or sewerage systems. Reviewing construction activities against drawings and specifications. Monitoring quality, safety and progress on site. Supporting technical reporting and project documentation. Coordinating with contractors, consultants and project teams. Identifying and helping resolve site issues. Supporting inspections, testing and commissioning activities. Ensuring works are completed to required standards. Assisting with practical site coordination and day‑to‑day supervision. Building positive working relationships with local companies, local trades and community‑based stakeholders. WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or equivalent. Minimum 10 years’ experience as a practicing engineer. Minimum 5 years’ experience in construction or construction supervision of urban water supply and/or sewerage systems. Strong technical understanding of construction delivery and site supervision. Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications and technical documents. Strong communication and reporting skills. Ability to work in a remote project environment. You must be IT literate, have strong attention to detail, be able to follow instructions and be comfortable completing detailed paperwork. IMPORTANT INFORMATION This is an expression of interest for a Project Engineer opportunity. This role requires proven urban water supply and/or sewerage systems experience. Civil or structural engineering qualifications are required. You must be comfortable living and working in the Pacific Islands. Candidates must hold a current New Zealand Passport. Candidates must be currently and permanently based in New Zealand. You must be able to pass pre‑employment checks, including medical, drug and alcohol, and police checks.
