Job Description
Role Overview Fixed‑term, full‑time 1.0FTE opportunity (Covering secondment within the organisation) based at Te Awakura, Acute Inpatient Services, Hillmorton Hospital. About the Role The East Inpatient Unit is a 16‑bed unit within Te Awakura that provides services to consumers in eastern Christchurch. We work closely with our outpatient team and other community services. Responsibilities Carry out Occupational Therapy assessments with documented treatment recommendations for consumers as required by the MDT and clinical need. Develop and facilitate individual and group‑based interventions. Work with consumers from diverse social and cultural backgrounds and collaborate with whānau, the wider multidisciplinary team, and other relevant agencies to ensure the best outcomes. Identify and contribute towards service improvement initiatives. Key Skills & Competencies Assessment of cognition, physical needs/equipment provision, skills for supported living, and motivation/engagement. Provision of client‑centred care, utilising evidence‑based interventions. Ability to work both autonomously and as part of an MDT. Ability to build and develop trusted relationships with consumers, their family/whānau, the MDT and other relevant agencies. Qualifications Registered with the Occupational Therapy Board of New Zealand with a current Annual Practicing Certificate. Full New Zealand driver’s licence.
