Registered Electrician / Limited Licence Electrician / 3rd Year Apprentice Electrician Location: Whanganui, New Zealand Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent Remuneration: Competitive hourly rate based on qualifications, experience, and licensing status About the Role We are seeking a motivated and reliable Electrician to join our growing team in Whanganui. We are ideally looking for a Registered Electrician , however applications from Limited Licence Electricians and 3rd Year Electrical Apprentices will also be considered. Experience with HVAC systems, heat pump installations, servicing, and maintenance would be highly advantageous. This role offers a variety of work across residential, commercial, and light industrial environments. Candidates should ideally be based in Whanganui or the surrounding region to support local customer service requirements. Key Responsibilities Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and equipment. Carry out electrical fault finding, testing, and diagnostics. Install, service, and maintain heat pumps and HVAC equipment. Read and interpret electrical plans, drawings, and specifications. Ensure all electrical work complies with New Zealand regulations, standards, and industry best practices. Complete required documentation and job records accurately. Provide excellent customer service and maintain professional relationships with clients. Participate in on-call or after-hours work if required. Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicles in a safe and orderly condition. Preferred Qualifications Ideal Candidate NZ Registered Electrician with current practising licence. Alternatively Limited Electrical Certificate holder. Or 3rd Year Electrical Apprentice working towards registration. Skills and Experience Proven electrical installation and maintenance experience. HVAC and heat pump experience preferred. Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities. Sound understanding of electrical safety standards and compliance requirements. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong communication and customer service skills. Good organisational and time management skills. Ability to work efficiently while maintaining a high standard of workmanship. Requirements Current NZ Driver Licence (Full Licence preferred). Ability to pass pre-employment and ongoing drug and alcohol testing if required. Legal right to work in New Zealand. Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and across a range of site environments when required. Physically fit and capable of manual handling tasks associated with electrical work. Complete relevant Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), Take 5s, and permit requirements when necessary. Ensure electrical isolation and testing procedures are followed at all times.
