Cloud & Data Engineer

We're building the cloud and data foundations that will power Trade Depot's next chapter, and we need the right person to help get them right. Trade Depot is New Zealand's leading online home improvement retailer. We're growing fast, we ship tens of thousands of orders a month, and we're serious about building the infrastructure to match. That means solid Azure foundations, clean data pipelines, a well-governed Microsoft 365 environment, and where knowledge lives in the system, not just in someone's head This is where you come in. What you will do Design, build, and maintain our Azure cloud environment — Entra ID, security, access controls, the works. Own the data lake architecture and the pipelines that feed it, CI/CD included. Lead SharePoint and OneDrive architecture and governance, working from existing hardening guides and a clear cleanup structure. Build the data foundations that let AI agents access company data safely and reliably, with proper permission boundaries and quality standards baked in. Collaborate with our IT Manager and AI delivery partner to make sure infrastructure decisions support the Aurora roadmap. Document environments, processes, and access so knowledge lives in the system, not just in someone's head. Support and mentor the internal IT team as we grow capability together. This is not an AI/ML model-building role. It's a practical, foundational engineering role for someone who takes quiet pride in getting things right. What you will bring Proven experience as a Cloud or DevOps/Cloud Infrastructure Engineer, ideally with Microsoft Azure. Strong CI/CD and DevSecOps chops. Hands‑on experience with data pipelines and containerised workloads. Experience with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and OneDrive architecture and governance, or a genuine eagerness to get up to speed fast. Confidence working directly with business leadership, not just a technical team. A pragmatic, foundation‑first mindset: you care about getting the infrastructure right before anyone starts scaling AI use cases on top of it.
