About the Role This Registrar position is ideally suited for an advanced renal trainee and is RACP accredited for 24 months. Twelve‑ or twenty‑four‑month positions are available, and early renal trainees are also welcome to apply. Responsibilities Work alongside experienced senior nephrologists within a dynamic, multidisciplinary team. Provide hands‑on care to a diverse patient population in acute and outpatient settings, managing complex comorbidities. Perform key procedures such as tunnelled dialysis line insertion and renal biopsy. Actively engage in professional development: contribute to the renal journal club, hospital‑based teaching programmes, and key renal discussions including morbidity and mortality meetings, vascular access forums, pathology reviews, and transplant listing meetings. Qualifications and Experience Advanced renal training (or early renal training) with a strong commitment to clinical practice and education. Experience or willingness to develop skills in dialysis line insertion, renal biopsy, and management of complex renal disease. Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary setting. Location and Service The Northland Renal Service provides comprehensive care for approximately 150 haemodialysis patients across Whangārei and two satellite units, with a major focus on home dialysis. The service also manages around 110 renal transplant recipients and offers specialist care in vasculitis, renal dietetics, and metabolic urolithiasis.
