Registered Midwife – Papakura Birthing Unit Opportunity to make an impact on the health of our community in CountiesManukau. Part‑time (0.8FTE), fixed‑term position available. Rostered shifts – flexibility to work 8‑ or 12‑hour shifts. We continue to work with others to achieve equity in key health indicators for Māori, Pacific and communities with health disparities and will continue to develop and implement plans, based on local needs, to improve the health and wellbeing of the CountiesManukau region. Our main sites are Middlemore Hospital, Kidz First Hospital and Manukau Health Park. We are part of Health New Zealand – Te WhatuOra, the overarching organisation for NewZealand's national health service. HNZ leads the day‑to‑day running of the health system, with functions delivered at local, district, regional and national levels. About the role Papakura Birthing Unit is looking for professional and registered midwives to join the dynamic team. Working in a picturesque rural setting, the midwife provides antenatal and postnatal care for the women of SouthAuckland. The unit does approximately 200 births a year and another 600 return to the postnatal unit for inpatient care after birth. We are BFHI accredited and pride ourselves on supporting women who choose to breastfeed, maintaining a high exclusive breastfeeding rate on discharge. The successful candidate will have outstanding communication skills and great initiative and will work in a supportive, dynamic team.
