Job Description
Casual contract based at Northern Regional Radiation Oncology serving Te Toka Tumai (Auckland City Hospital) and Te Tai Tokerau (Whangārei Hospital). Work in a large, modern, comprehensive Oncology facility. Ideally you are able to join our team soon with start date negotiable. About the Role Te Pūriri o Te Ora Cancer & Blood Services at Auckland City Hospital is a large, internationally recognised cancer centre delivering Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology and Haematology care. The Radiation Oncology Service is expanding research opportunities across the patient care pathway and involves clinical trials with the Trans‑Tasman Radiation Oncology Group (TROG) and the Medical Research Council (MRC) in the UK. In mid‑2026 the regional service will expand to Whangārei; until then a visiting Radiation Oncologist clinic will be provided. A full radiation treatment programme is provided including Paediatric Radiation Oncology, Brachytherapy and Stereotactic Ablative Radiotherapy. The department is involved in a Registrar training Programme with eleven Radiation Oncology Registrars. Responsibilities Deliver high‑quality radiation treatment across all tumour streams – Breast, Lung, GU, GI, Haematology and Palliative RT. Perform VMAT, IGRT and, where appropriate, apply SABR techniques. Collaborate closely with medical oncologists, haematologists and multidisciplinary teams, integrating chemotherapy plans where required. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support multi‑disciplinary patient care. Maintain a strong academic record, pursue research opportunities and share findings with the wider team. Qualifications Fellowship of the RANZCR Faculty of Radiation Oncology with vocational registration, or eligibility for vocational registration, in Radiation Oncology and NZMC registration (mandatory). Experience in VMAT, IGRT and Palliative RT. Desirable: experience in SABR. Strong team‑working skills and ability to provide multidisciplinary care.
