About the Role\n

As National Sales Manager, you’ll play a key leadership role in shaping the future of Real Steel. Reporting to the Managing Director and as a member of the Leadership Team, you'll lead our nationwide sales, customer service, estimating, and marketing functions, driving growth across our Plate Processing, Wearparts, and Foxbox divisions. The role is responsible for delivering the annual sales budget, ensuring our North Island and South Island operations remain optimally loaded, and building the systems, processes, and capability needed to support long-term growth. This is an opportunity to make a significant impact in a business that is investing heavily in world-class facilities, technology, and people.

What you'll be doing\n

  • Leading the development and execution of Real Steel's national sales strategy and annual sales budget across all product lines.
  • \n
  • Driving profitable revenue growth while maintaining strong factory utilisation across both our Hautapu and Ashburton sites.
  • \n
  • Building, implementing, and continuously improving scalable sales systems, processes, CRM disciplines, and performance reporting.
  • \n
  • Leading and developing a nationwide team across sales, customer service, and estimating, creating a high-performance culture focused on accountability, customer outcomes, and continuous improvement. Providing accurate forecasting, pipeline management, and commercial insights to support strategic decision-making.
  • \n
  • Overseeing marketing activity to ensure it supports lead generation, customer engagement, and growth across all business units.
  • \n
  • Identifying emerging market opportunities, monitoring industry trends, and strengthening Real Steel's position within the manufacturing sector.
  • \n
  • Representing Real Steel with customers, suppliers, industry partners, and at key industry events throughout New Zealand.
  • \n
What you'll bring\n

  • Significant B2B sales leadership experience, with a proven track record of leading high-performing teams and delivering commercial growth.
  • \n
  • Experience within steel, manufacturing, heavy engineering, industrial, or civil construction environments.
  • \n
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, including experience managing substantial revenue budgets, forecasting accurately, and protecting margins.
  • \n
  • A strategic mindset with the ability to turn business objectives into practical sales plans, repeatable systems, and measurable outcomes.
  • \n
  • Proven experience implementing CRM disciplines, structured sales pipelines, KPIs, and performance frameworks that create accountability and visibility.
  • \n
  • Strong leadership capability, with experience developing talent, coaching teams, and building organisational capability across geographically dispersed teams.
  • \n
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to engage effectively with everyone from operational teams through to senior decision-makers and major customers.
  • \n
  • A collaborative, resilient, and values-driven approach, with a genuine desire to contribute to the success of the wider business and its people.
