Build and maintain effective relationships across MBIE, the Minister’s Office, other regulators and stakeholders to support successful delivery of branch priorities. Support the effective stewardship of regulatory systems by ensuring regulatory activities remain coordinated, risk‑based and connected across government agencies. 9‑month fixed term/secondment opportunity from 14 September 2026 to 25 June 2027, Wellington based. Salary range: $110,098 - $138,028 per annum + KiwiSaver. As Senior Advisor – Programme and Branch Services, you will provide trusted advice and support across governance, ministerial servicing, risk management, quality assurance and branch operations. Working closely with leaders across the Resource Markets branch, you will help ensure the delivery of high‑quality services, robust decision‑making, and effective regulatory stewardship. This is a varied and fast‑paced role requiring strong analytical capability, excellent written communication skills, sound judgement and the ability to respond confidently to emerging issues and competing priorities. You will Provide high‑quality advice and coordinate responses to Official Information Act requests, Parliamentary Questions, Ministerial correspondence, and other requests for information, ensuring risks are identified, managed and escalated appropriately. Support and lead branch‑wide business management activities, including planning, procurement, performance reporting and operational delivery, ensuring work is structured and delivered using effective project and programme management approaches. Build and maintain effective relationships across MBIE, the Minister’s Office, other regulators and stakeholders to support successful delivery of branch priorities. Support the effective stewardship of regulatory systems by ensuring regulatory activities remain coordinated, risk‑based and connected across government agencies. Support governance and quality management functions across the branch, including continuous improvement activities and the maintenance of ISO‑aligned processes. This is a senior role where you’ll often lead complex pieces of work, coordinate responses to high‑profile requests, and provide advice on issues that require sound judgement and careful risk management. Skills and Experience Required An outcome‑focused approach with the ability to turn strategy into deliverable work plans. Proven ability to analyse complex information, identify risks, and design practical solutions. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distil complex information into clear, concise advice. Strong understanding of regulatory systems and effective, risk‑based regulation. Advanced strategic and critical thinking, sound judgement, and attention to detail. Experience in governance, risk, and quality management practices. Proven ability to build trusted relationships, understand diverse perspectives and influence outcomes across a range of stakeholders. Understanding of government processes. Must have the legal right to work in New Zealand. Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline. Knowledge of the machinery of government.
