About the role | Mō te tūranga As the subject matter expert for Fair Conduct and Treating Clients Fairly (TCF), you’ll lead the ongoing enhancement of Rabobank New Zealand’s Fair Conduct Programme (FCP) and conduct risk framework. Working within the second line of defence, you’ll provide trusted advice, effective challenge, and strategic oversight to ensure we continue to meet our regulatory obligations while strengthening our conduct culture. This role offers extensive collaboration across New Zealand, Australia, and the wider Rabobank Group, giving you exposure to global best practices while helping drive local regulatory excellence. What You’ll Be Doing You’ll play a critical role in shaping outcomes that matter, supporting regulatory compliance, improving customer experiences, influencing business decisions, and ensuring fairness remains at the centre of everything we do. Lead Conduct Risk Excellence Lead and enhance Rabobank’s Fair Conduct Programme and TCF Framework. Identify emerging conduct risks and strengthen controls, processes, and client outcomes. Ensure compliance with FMCA and CoFI requirements. Provide expert conduct risk advice across the business. Influence Regulatory Outcomes Support regulatory reporting and licensing obligations. Support conduct‑related engagement with the FMA. Support industry collaboration with organisations such as the NZBA. Drive Monitoring & Governance Deliver second‑line monitoring and control testing. Analyse conduct trends, complaints, and risk indicators. Provide reporting and insights to executives, committees, and Boards. Lead the annual Fair Conduct Programme review and Board approval process. Build Capability & Culture Support the development and delivery of conduct risk training. Promote Fair Conduct and TCF principles across the organisation. Act as a trusted advisor on conduct matters. Foster a culture of accountability, integrity, and customer fairness. Provide subject‑matter expert input into queries and advisory activities across Compliance Advisory NZ, including acting as back‑up during periods of peak demand or team absence. About you | Ō pūkenga We’re looking for a seasoned compliance professional who combines technical expertise with strong influencing skills and a genuine passion for fair customer outcomes. Essential Experience 8+ years’ experience within banking, financial services, compliance, risk, or regulatory environments. Strong expertise in conduct risk, compliance frameworks, and regulatory obligations. Proven experience working within a second‑line compliance or advisory function. Demonstrated capability in risk assessment, monitoring, controls testing, and governance reporting. Experience building trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and regulators. Qualifications Degree in Commerce, Business, Economics, Law, or a related discipline. Highly Valued Knowledge of New Zealand banking and conduct regulation, including FMCA and CoFI. Experience managing Fair Conduct Programmes, TCF frameworks, or equivalent conduct risk obligations. Understanding of retail, commercial, agribusiness, or wholesale banking environments. Experience developing and delivering technical training. Exposure to Compliance Risks, including ESG, sustainability, climate‑related regulation, or emerging risk areas an advantage.
