0.5FTE (20 hours per week) – Fixed‑term position available until 29th Nov 2026 at Christchurch Hospital Campus, New Zealand.
About the Role\nWe are looking for an experienced General Surgical nurse to join our nursing team as the Clinical Nurse Specialist – General Surgery. As a positive clinical leader you will work across the General Surgery service, collaborating with the whole team to maintain and improve high standards of care and patient outcomes.
\nYour clinical expertise will allow you to be the nursing clinical lead for patient care with complex surgical patients, including specialist wound care and nutritional regimes. Providing valuable support and education to patients and staff will be a core part of your role.
About You\nYour broad general surgical knowledge and extensive recent experience will position you as a specialist resource for the team. You should demonstrate enthusiasm and passion, drive the provision of education to new and existing staff, and engage a wide range of people. The role requires a self‑motivated, organised nurse with exceptional interpersonal skills.
\nYou will hold, or be working toward, a relevant postgraduate qualification and will be an expert nurse.
Skills and Experience\n- \n
- Experienced senior Registered Nurse with a current NZ practicing certificate – a senior nursing role. \n
- Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively with other professionals. \n
- Ability to be adaptable, flexible, and solution‑focused. \n
- Advanced nursing practitioner with excellent time management, interpersonal and organisational skills. \n
- Ability to share and demonstrate specialist knowledge and skills. \n
- Hold, or currently be working toward, a Level 8 postgraduate qualification. \n
- Experience in teaching, mentoring and coaching; ability to develop nursing standards. \n
- Willingness to participate in hospital‑wide portfolios and initiatives. \n
