Financial Controller - 6 Month Contract

We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join a high-performing financial services organisation on a 6‑month contract based in Auckland.

This is a senior leadership opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and enjoys balancing strategic thinking with hands‑on operational delivery.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will provide leadership and oversight of the finance function, ensuring continuity of high‑quality financial operations while supporting key strategic initiatives across the business.

This role will suit someone who can operate autonomously, build strong stakeholder relationships, and drive continuous improvement across finance systems, processes, and controls.

• Lead and oversee day‑to‑day finance operations including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, reconciliations, and cash management
\n
• Review and oversee the preparation of monthly management accounts, ensuring timely and accurate reporting
\n
• Prepare and deliver statutory financial statements across NZ, AU, and UK jurisdictions
\n
• Lead and manage external audit processes, including UK audit requirements
\n
• Maintain oversight of financial controls, balance sheet reconciliations, and general ledger integrity
\n
• Support budgeting and forecasting processes alongside the CFO
\n
• Deliver high‑quality financial reporting, dashboards, KPI reporting, and Board reporting outputs
\n
• Partner with stakeholders across the business to provide commercial insights and support decision‑making
\n
• Act as a delegate for the CFO across operational finance matters where required
\n

To succeed in this role, you will bring strong technical accounting capability, proven leadership experience, and the ability to operate confidently at a senior level.

• CA or CPA qualification
\n
• 8+ years’ experience in senior finance roles
\n
• Previous experience as a Financial Controller or equivalent
\n
• Experience within the financial services sector
\n
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop finance team members
\n
• Advanced financial systems and Excel capability
\n
• Experience improving finance processes, controls, and reporting frameworks
\n
• Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills
\n
• The ability to manage competing priorities and deliver under tight deadlines
