Contract: 12-Month Fixed Term Contract
Working closely with the General Counsel and Legal Team, you'll support EROAD's strategic and commercial goals across New Zealand, Australia, and North America.
\nYou'll provide legal support across a broad range of matters, including contracts, disputes, privacy, risk, and intellectual property, while partnering with teams across the business on complex, cross-jurisdictional matters.
Key Responsibilities\n- \n
- Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts \n
- Support major business transactions \n
- Manage disputes and pre-litigation matters, including working with external counsel where needed \n
- Support privacy and risk compliance across New Zealand, Australia and the US \n
- Manage and maintain EROAD's intellectual property portfolio \n
- Triage legal requests through the team helpdesk and prioritise matters effectively \n
- Support the development of corporate policies, procedures and programmes \n
- Prepare training materials and provide legal guidance to the business \n
- Partner with cross-functional teams on a wide range of commercial, product, privacy, software and public company matters \n

- LLB degree or higher \n
- 6+ years PQE in-house or in private practice, ideally with experience in commercial and technology contracts (10+ years PQE for Senior Legal Counsel level) \n
- Hold, or be applying for, a current practising certificate \n
- Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills \n
- Ability to provide clear, concise legal advice to senior stakeholders \n
- Commercially pragmatic approach, with the ability to balance legal risk and business objectives \n
- Proactive, adaptable and able to work independently \n
- Highly organised, detail-focused, and comfortable managing multiple priorities \n

- Comfortable using AI and emerging technologies to improve efficiency and solve problems effectively \n
- Experience building AI agents for legal use would be highly regarded, but is not essential \n
