Job Description

Hynds is looking for an experienced Senior Production Engineer to join our Precast and Reinforcing team in Pokeno. This is a hands‑on technical leadership role where you'll oversee and optimise site operations, drive best‑practice manufacturing processes, and ensure we deliver high‑quality precast product safely, efficiently and cost‑effectively. You’ll take full ownership of complex projects from concept through to completion, lead process improvements, troubleshoot technical challenges, and work closely with cross‑functional teams — from Sales and Quality through to Site Supervisors and Team Leaders — to keep production running at its best. What You’ll Be Doing Leading and coordinating daily production, ensuring drawings, materials, moulds and resources are ready to meet manufacturing plans Providing technical direction and problem‑solving support to teams and individuals, acting as the go‑to expert for complex production issues Driving quality control — from inspection and testing plans through to NCR management and minimising rejects, rework and waste Coaching, mentoring and developing your team, and role‑modeling a strong safety and performance culture Championing continuous improvement across production processes, QC/QA systems and reporting Managing planning, cost control and workcentre capacity to optimise labour and machine utilisation Maintaining a strong health, safety and environmental culture — identifying hazards, managing risk, and ensuring compliance with Hynds' policies and Golden Rules What You’ll Bring A Civil or Construction Engineering degree (or equivalent), with 3–5 years' experience in a precast or manufacturing production environment Strong technical knowledge of precast manufacturing, with the confidence to engage in detailed engineering discussions with Sales and Production Engineers A methodical, solutions‑focused approach to problem‑solving, with solid experience in continuous improvement and process management Well‑developed report writing skills and strong MS Office capability A full driver's licence Proven leadership ability — you coach, motivate and bring the best out of your team A genuine commitment to health and safety, and a collaborative, team‑first mindset Why Hynds?
