About the Role and First Vets We are seeking a Veterinary Nurse Superstar to join our team. First Vets is a Companion Animal general practice, open 6 days a week, boasting a full IDEXX Diagnostic Suite, digital x-ray and dental x-ray capability. We’re a tight knit team (we love a good quiz night!) and we’re always on the lookout for new ideas and initiatives that help our customers and our community. We work very closely with the Whanganui SPCA, and we’re often involved in local charity initiatives like Pack the Bus, where we collect donations of food, bedding and treats for animals in need. Responsibilities Providing excellent standards of care for our patients and clients Assisting with consultations General nursing and clinic administration tasks Utilise technology and equipment management Assisting with anaesthesia surgical procedures Monitoring care of patients and follow up after surgery Desired Qualities A Veterinary Nurse Qualification with proven clinical skills An enthusiastic level of customer service Excellent written and oral communication skills Experience in nurse consultations The ability to show empathy and respond to customer and patient needs A passion for animal health and wellbeing Your team skills will be excellent, and your ability to relate well to both customers and colleagues You must be able to adapt to a constantly changing environment whilst maintaining a friendly and enjoyable working atmosphere Have initiative and a pro‑active work ethic What We Can Offer You Long service benefits CPD allowance and opportunities Staff discounts on products and services Annual flu vaccinations Paid Volunteer Day Partner offers with Toyota, BNZ and PBTech Sonder, our employee care platform This is a full‑time position; working Monday to Friday with participation in the Saturday roster.
