Job Description
Power Technician - Delta Utility Services Ltd. - Dunedin, NZ Delta Utility Services Ltd. is seeking a Power Technician to install, maintain, test, and repair critical electricity distribution network equipment, ensuring reliable power flow across our systems. Responsibilities Install, maintain, test, and repair critical electricity distribution network equipment. Work on high-voltage substations and network assets: diagnose faults, perform switching operations, and operate specialist testing equipment to verify network performance. Provide technical support and assist with training activities. Participate in an after-hours standby roster as part of a collaborative field team. Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to quality workmanship and safety. Required Qualifications Full Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB) registration and a current Practicing License, or an EWRB Limited Practicing License, or a letter from EWRB confirming eligibility for a Limited Practicing License. Full Class 1 New Zealand or international equivalent driver's licence. 4+ years of high-voltage industry experience. Knowledge of maintenance practices involving distribution equipment and plant. Proven technical experience in a high-voltage zone substation environment. SCADA, protection relay configuration and testing expertise. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and produce As-Built drawings. Strong high-voltage technical expertise, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety and quality work. Motivated team player capable of working independently, building positive relationships, and delivering exceptional service to customers and communities. Benefits & Working Conditions Full-time, permanent role – 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday; weekend work may be required. Overtime paid at time and a half after 40 hours. Hourly wage range $45-$55 gross, dependent on qualifications and experience. Main office in Dunedin, Otago, with occasional travel across greater Otago Region for outages and emergency work.
