Fixed Term, Part‑Time Position (0.85FTE) 34hours per week covering a parental leave period from 29 September 2026 to 27 September 2027, based at Burwood Campus. Role Overview As an Occupational Therapist at Burwood Hospital, you will support clients in achieving safe and successful driving outcomes. You will work alongside an Advanced Practice Occupational Therapist and Driving Instructors, providing comprehensive assessment and rehabilitation services for clients with a range of health conditions and backgrounds. The role involves on‑ and off‑road assessments to determine medical fitness to drive, developing rehabilitation plans and educating clients and their whānau. Responsibilities Undertake occupational therapy assessments and determine medical fitness to drive. Determine rehabilitation plans and goals when appropriate. Provide education and resources to clients and their family/whānau. Prioritise, organise and manage a case load while allocating time appropriately. Qualifications & Experience Registered with the NZ Occupational Therapy Board and holding a current Annual Practicing Certificate. Experience in Occupational Therapy, with preferred knowledge in Older Persons Health and neurology. Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively, building positive interpersonal relationships. Excellent communication, interpersonal and evidence‑based clinical reasoning skills. Effective time‑management and organisational skills. Positive attitude and enthusiasm for driving rehabilitation.
