About the role We have an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Fitter, to join our supportive small maintenance team working 8.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday, at our Avondale, Dynex manufacturing operation. Ideally you will come from a similar role and enjoy working in a fast paced and innovative manufacturing environment where you are able to work autonomously or part of a team with a continuous improvement mindset, to get the job done safely, efficiently and to optimise performance and reliability of both the plant and equipment on site. This is a dynamic role that requires a hands‑on and energetic person with a high level of organisation and the ability to work quickly and accurately while maintaining safe work practices and following procedures. Responsibilities General mechanical maintenance & repairs including preventative maintenance. Hydraulic & pneumatic maintenance & repairs. Welding experience (MIG, TIG, stick) and machining are desirable but not essential. Attend to call outs for breakdowns when required. Spare parts ordering through store requisitions. Work with Electrical support to diagnose and implement solutions. Capital project works and continuous improvement tasks. Job recording in CMMS systems daily, using MEX. Strictly following all required OH&S procedures. Qualifications Trade qualified (level 4) Fitting and Turning or dual trade qualified (highly regarded). 3‑5 years’ experience as an industrial Maintenance Fitter working in a similar role within a Manufacturing, Plastic, FMCG or Heavy Industrial environment. Knowledge or experience in extrusion, water process plant, raw materials handling, granulation, pumps, and associated equipment (highly desirable). Hands‑on and flexible to be on call when needed to attend breakdowns. Team player with excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Demonstrated experience in mechanical maintenance activities including annual shutdowns, breakdowns and preventative maintenance. Computer literate with experience using CMMS systems (MEX preferred). Exceptional time management and coordination skills, able to prioritise and be agile with a high level of attention to detail. Have a current driver’s licence, own transport, EWP licence, White Card and Forklift licence (advantageous). Be a New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident with full working rights.
