Job Description

This is a permanent, full-time role based at AUT's South Campus. As an Outreach and Engagement Officer, you will work across AUT's three campuses to help students discover and make the most of everything Te Mātāpuna Library and Learning Services offers. Your day‑to‑day tasks include creating social media content, planning and running events and activations, and providing frontline service at the library helpdesk and via online chat— the first friendly points of engagement for many students. You will also be a visible presence on campus, working to lift student awareness of the library's spaces, workshops, and learning support. Through this work, you will contribute to AUT's Te Aronui journey, helping create a welcoming, inclusive environment where all students can thrive. Responsibilities Shape engaging events and social media content, using your initiative to spot what students need and make it happen Be a welcoming, organised presence for AUT students at South Campus Library (Manukau)—friendly and approachable, and reliable in following through on the details that keep events and projects running smoothly Use your strong communication and people skills across frontline service — at the desk and on chat Be part of a collaborative and energetic team working across all three AUT campuses Create social media content, plan and run events and activations, and provide frontline service at the library helpdesk and via online chat—first friendly points of engagement for many students Be a visible presence on campus, working to lift student awareness of the library's spaces, workshops, and learning support Qualifications Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with genuine enjoyment of working with people Comfortable using social media, with an interest in creating content and confidence learning new digital tools Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills, with initiative and follow-through A bachelor's degree; recent graduates welcome Experience supporting Indigenous, equity or inclusion-focused initiatives is highly valued Compensation & Start Date Start Date: August 2026 Salary Ranges: $59,000 – $60,000 per annum (dependent on experience and qualifications) Job Reference 95980 #J-18808-Ljbffr
