You will work alongside experienced assessors, claims specialists and external experts to resolve challenging claims, provide guidance to others and help shape how we respond during major events. This is a permanent full-time role based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara (Wellington). Ngā Mahi Hei Whakatutuki Māu | What You'll Do Manage complex property claims from assessment through to settlement, including coverage decisions, damage scoping, repair reviews and stakeholder communication. Provide technical guidance and support to property assessors, helping resolve challenging claims and uplift capability across the broader team. Respond to significant claim events as part of the on the ground assessing team, supporting customers during times of disruption and uncertainty. Collaborate with consultants, contractors and internal specialists to progress claims, resolve issues and achieve fair customer outcomes. Identify risks, opportunities and process improvements that enhance claim quality, operational performance and customer experience. Deliver coaching, technical advice and training that supports capability development across assessing and claims teams. Maintain high standards of quality, governance and compliance across all claims activities and event response initiatives. Ōu Pūkenga me ōu Wheako | What You'll Bring Experience managing technical property claims within insurance, assessing or claims management environments. Strong knowledge of building repairs, damage assessment and reinstatement costs. Ability to assess complex situations, analyse information and make sound decisions under pressure. Experience supporting customers through challenging situations with empathy, professionalism and care. Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical information clearly to different audiences. Confidence building relationships with internal teams, suppliers, contractors and industry experts. A collaborative mindset with a passion for sharing knowledge, mentoring others and continuously improving ways of working.
