Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery- Waikato at New Zealand Government

About the Role We are seeking an experienced Specialist to join our Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMS) department at Waikato Hospital, Hamilton. Key responsibilities : Provide regional acute, elective and outpatient OMS services, including acute workload such as odontogenic infections and facial trauma. Perform elective operating such as dento‑alveolar, complex benign pathology and TMJ surgery. Participate in a 1‑in‑5 after‑hours on‑call roster. Attend regular service meetings and collaborate with ORL Head and Neck Surgery, Plastic Surgery and Medical/Radiation Oncology colleagues. Provide clinical supervision and teaching for medical officers and trainees, and host medical and dental students. Document and communicate all treatment provided in accordance with accepted professional guidelines. Qualifications Hold or be eligible for registration as a specialist OMS surgeon with the Medical Council and Dental Council of NewZeland. Experience in implementing TeTiriti oWaitangi in action. Current full driver’s licence. Preferred: interest in cleft and orthognathic surgery, but all qualified candidates are welcome. Employment Details Full‑time on‑site position; up to 0.8FTE, permanent part‑time. Position is suitable for IMG registration with the MCNZ.
