New Zealand Customs Service | Te Mana Ārai o Aotearoa is looking for an experienced Senior Recruitment Advisor Operations to join our busy, collaborative recruitment team on a 12-month fixed term basis, based in Auckland. This is a great opportunity to play a key role in attracting, assessing and appointing people into roles that help protect and promote Aotearoa New Zealand. We’re looking for someone who is proactive, detail-focused and confident to roll their sleeves up, use their initiative and get things done. About this role… In this role, you’ll work closely with hiring managers to design and deliver effective, fit-for-purpose selection processes based on job analysis. This may include work tests, assessment activities and structured interviews, along with providing clear, objective advice to support high-quality recruitment decisions. We support flexible working arrangements and will be happy to discuss this further with the preferred candidate. What you'll be doing… Reporting to the Team Leader Recruitment, you will: provide best-practice recruitment advice and support across a busy operational recruitment portfolio. build strong working relationships and communicate confidently with a range of stakeholders, including senior leaders. design and coordinate assessment activities, interview processes and other selection tools. keep recruitment processes moving with strong planning, organisation and attention to detail. provide a positive candidate experience by keeping applicants informed and engaged throughout the process. work collaboratively with the team to deliver against the Customs recruitment work programme. You’ll be joining a small, supportive team where everyone pitches in to help deliver quality recruitment outcomes. You’ll have the opportunity to guide and advise hiring managers, support robust selection processes and contribute to a recruitment function that makes a real difference. To be successful in this role, you will bring… demonstrated experience in recruitment, ideally within operational or high-volume recruitment environments. experience coordinating high-volume or bulk recruitment processes, including assessment centre-style activities, group assessments and structured selection approaches that support consistent, fair and efficient hiring decisions (desirable but not essential). Previous experience working with applicant tracking systems (ATS), particularly Snaphire or similar recruitment platforms, would be advantageous. You will assist with the ongoing optimisation of recruitment processes and support hiring managers as new functionality and ways of working are introduced. well-developed knowledge of recruitment best practice and the ability to deliver practical, fit-for-purpose recruitment solutions. experience using recruitment systems, tools and processes. sound judgement, initiative and the ability to provide quality advice to hiring managers and stakeholders. excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly with a wide range of audiences. strong planning, organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to keep work moving in a busy environment. well-developed relationship management skills and a collaborative, team-focused approach. How to apply… To join Customs in any role youmust be a New Zealand citizen or NZ permanent resident . * * This means: a New Zealand Citizen or New Zealand Permanent Resident who has resided continuously in New Zealand for the last 5 years and resides in NZ at time of application; OR a New Zealand Citizen or New Zealand Permanent Resident who has resided in New Zealand for the last 5 years and resides in NZ at the time of application. You may have been absent from New Zealand for periods of six or more months within the past five years, preferably in one or more of the following countries: either Australia, Canada, UK or the USA. You will be required to provide overseas police certificates for these periods spent outside of New Zealand. You must have a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the New Zealand Security Intelligence Service towards a recommendation of suitability for security clearance at a higher level. Due to the nature of Customs work, you must have a clear Police record. The successful applicant will also be required to pass a drug test as well as being subject to random, ongoing drug tests during their period of employment with Customs. (These requirements apply to all successful applicants for roles at Customs and Customs employees.)
