Secondary (Years 7–15) / wharekura, Assistant principal English Salary and leadership allowances by negotiation Hato Pāora College is Aotearoa New Zealand's only Catholic Māori Years 9–13 boys' boarding college. Grounded in the dual Special Character of Te Hāhi Katorika and Te Ao Māori, we are seeking an exceptional and future-focused assistant principal to join our Rōpū Kaiārahi (senior leadership team), commencing immediately or by negotiation. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educational leader to lead curriculum, assessment, and teaching and learning. Working alongside the tumuaki and senior leadership team, you will support high‑quality outcomes for our ākonga while strengthening the values and aspirations of Hato Pāora College. The successful applicant will: Have proven expertise in NZQA, NCEA, and quality assessment and moderation practices. Have the knowledge or capability to undertake the Principal's Nominee role. Lead and support the implementation of the refreshed New Zealand Curriculum, ensuring high‑quality teaching and learning across the kura. Be an innovative and collaborative leader with excellent organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills, who empowers kaiako to grow their practice and improve outcomes for ākonga. Use student achievement data to drive continuous improvement and informed decision‑making. Applicants do not need to be Catholic; however staff are expected to recognise and respect the school’s dual Catholic Māori special character and be actively involved in the total life of the school, in a manner which respects the religious instruction given and religious observances practiced within Hato Pāora College.
