Job Description
Registered Nurse – Perioperative Unit (PACU) Hawkes Bay Fallen Soldiers Memorial Hospital is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to provide specialist perioperative nursing care in our Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU). This position is permanent/part‑time, offering 64 hours per fortnight (0.8FTE). About the Role As a Registered Nurse in the PACU, you will deliver high‑quality care during the critical recovery period immediately following surgery and anaesthesia. You will work in a fast‑paced, highly skilled environment, assessing, monitoring and supporting patients as they recover, responding promptly to changing clinical needs and ensuring the highest standards of patient safety. You will collaborate closely with anaesthetists, surgeons, nurses and other multidisciplinary colleagues to achieve exceptional patient outcomes and support patients and whānau throughout this important stage of their healthcare journey. Key Responsibilities Provide specialist nursing care to patients during the critical post‑operative recovery stage. Assess, monitor, and support patients as they recover, responding promptly to changing clinical needs. Ensure high standards of patient safety and care in a fast‑paced perioperative environment. Collaborate with anaesthetists, surgeons, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional patient outcomes. About You Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a valid Annual Practising Certificate. Post‑graduate nursing experience in surgical, perioperative, critical care or acute care settings. Advanced assessment and clinical decision‑making skills.
