Job Description

Associate Professor / Lecturer / Senior Lecturer – Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapy A rare opportunity to lead and teach within a nationally recognised physiotherapy programme, shaping contemporary cardiorespiratory practice and education in Aotearoa New Zealand. Work in a collegial, values‑led environment with excellent support for teaching, research and scholarship, and close alignment to real‑world, clinically grounded physiotherapy practice. Full‑time (1.0 FTE), permanent appointment at Lecturer, Senior Lecturer or Professorial level, with clear pathways for academic advancement, leadership and career development, located at the Akoranga Campus on Auckland’s North Shore. Responsibilities Teach and develop curriculum across programmes, fostering transformative student experiences. Lead teaching initiatives, including course design, practical sessions, tutorials, and paper coordination. Mentor junior academics and supervise Masters and PhD students. Engage in research activities, publish actively, and pursue external funding opportunities. Contribute to program and course improvement, integrating emerging technologies. Support Indigenous, equity and inclusion initiatives and work collaboratively across disciplines. Qualifications Education & Registration PhD in physiotherapy or related field, or PhD nearing completion. Registration (or eligibility) with the Physiotherapy Board of New Zealand. Current Annual Practising Certificate (or eligibility). Clinical expertise in cardiorespiratory physiotherapy. Research & Scholarship Early‑career academics: solid research pipeline and emerging publication record. More experienced: established research profile, quality publications, and success in external funding bids. Demonstrated pursuit of external research income (Lecturers) or securing/contributing to external income (Senior Lecturers). Experience leading research initiatives, collaborations, editorial board participation, and conference management (for Associate Professors/Professors). Teaching Experience Early‑career: some teaching experience. Experienced: lecturing experience, curriculum development, supervising postgraduate students.
