About the Role As the Senior Advisor – HSS Programme Implementation , you will play a critical role in supporting the delivery of Hospital and Specialist Services (HSS) programmes that strengthen health system performance and improve outcomes for New Zealanders. Working across a diverse portfolio, you will provide high-quality strategic advice, develop briefings and reports for senior leaders and Ministers, and ensure the organisation responds effectively to Government priorities. You’ll support delivery of a range of high-profile programmes of work, including identifying emerging risks and opportunities. You will lead the preparation of Ministerial briefings, correspondence, Official Information Act responses, Parliamentary Questions and other high-profile requests. You will also support continuous improvement across the wider team. Success in this role requires exceptional written communication, sound judgement, strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to build collaborative relationships across Health New Zealand and Government agencies. About the Team and Location You will join the Hospital and Specialist Services Programme Implementation team, working alongside experienced programme leaders, clinical experts and policy professionals committed to improving healthcare delivery across Aotearoa New Zealand. This team is part of an exciting and fast-paced wider team, with national planning, funding and change programme responsibilities across hospital and specialist services. These include planned care services, cancer services, diagnostics delivery, clinical services planning, and other programmes including support for patients and whānau to access services. The team works collaboratively across Health New Zealand, Government agencies and key stakeholders to deliver strategic programmes that support high-quality, equitable health services. This role offers flexible working arrangements and can be based at one of Health New Zealand's offices. About you You are an experienced senior advisor who is confident navigating complex environments and delivering high-quality advice under tight timeframes. You bring strong analytical thinking, excellent written communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships across a wide range of stakeholders. You will bring: A relevant tertiary qualification, ideally at postgraduate level. At least five years' experience in a Senior Advisor or similar public sector role. Strong knowledge of the New Zealand Government sector and Machinery of Government processes. Experience preparing high-quality briefings, Ministerial advice, Official Information Act responses and Parliamentary Questions. Demonstrated experience supporting programmes that improve service delivery and organisational performance. Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, with the ability to influence across all levels of an organisation. A sound understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and a demonstrated commitment to improving equitable health outcomes for Māori and supporting Māori-led and Pacific-led approaches. Proven ability to manage competing priorities, analyse complex information and deliver high-quality outcomes in a collaborative environment.
