Destination Advisory Board Members Tourism Central Otago (TCO) is the Regional Tourism Organisation for Central Otago, coordinating the management and marketing of Central Otago as a visitor destination for the benefit of our communities. Role The Advisory Board is composed of the Chairperson, two appointed roles, and four co‑opted roles representing the following: CODC Mayor or Elected Councillor Kai Tahu representative Tourism business owner or senior manager based in Central Otago Youth representative (aged 18‑30) Board members are expected to attend up to four meetings per year. Job Description Role of the Destination Advisory Board Strategy stewardship – understand the goals, objectives and desired outcomes of the Central Otago Destination Management Plan. Review and advise on the Tourism Central Otago strategy and work programme for the implementation of the Destination Management Plan, ensuring priorities are focused and achievable within agreed timeframes. Apply expertise to support the outcomes and overall success of the Destination Management Plan. Support open discussion and debate, encouraging fellow Advisory Board members to voice their insights. Use influence and authority to assist the Tourism Central Otago team in achieving its outcomes. Assist with resolving strategic‑level issues and risks as required. Desired Skills and Experience Appointments aim to balance management and marketing, offering in‑region and out‑of‑region expertise and knowledge. Expected qualifications include standing within the community, strategic vision for Central Otago, knowledge of local and national tourism systems and funding, project management experience, familiarity with Central Government processes, understanding of Central Otago Regional Identity and Kai Tahu values, partnership with mana whenua, and youth leadership.
