About the Role As an Analyst, you'll transform complex health data into meaningful insights that support better decision-making across Health New Zealand. Working with stakeholders from Hospital & Specialist Services, Commissioning and other business units, you'll analyse health service activity and performance data, develop reports and dashboards, and provide evidence-based insights that influence planning, performance monitoring and service delivery. No two days are the same. You'll work with a variety of health datasets, respond to high-priority requests including parliamentary questions, Official Information Act (OIA) requests and media enquiries, and collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and deliver customer-focused reporting solutions. You'll also contribute to continuous improvement by enhancing data quality, reporting processes and analytics capability across the organisation. About the Team and Location You’ll be part of a collaborative Health Analytics team that provides trusted reporting and analytical expertise to teams across Health New Zealand. The team works closely with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to deliver timely, high-quality insights that support operational and strategic decision-making. About you You’ll be an experienced analyst with a strong technical foundation and a passion for using data to solve complex problems. You will be comfortable working with large, complex datasets, engaging with a broad range of stakeholders, and communicating insights in a clear and meaningful way. You’ll also have a commitment to equity and an understanding of how analytics can support better outcomes for all New Zealanders. You will bring: A relevant tertiary qualification in data science, statistics, business analysis, business insights or a related discipline. At least 3–5 years' experience in an analytics or business intelligence role within a large organisation. Strong experience with Business Intelligence and analytics tools such as Power BI, Qlik, SQL and advanced Microsoft Excel. Experience analysing and integrating complex datasets to develop reports, dashboards and actionable insights. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to tailor information to different audiences. Knowledge of business analysis techniques, requirements gathering and data visualisation best practice. An understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and a commitment to supporting equitable health outcomes. Experience in the health or public sector will be an advantage.
