Job Description ENGEO is looking for an engineering geologist to join us in Wellington! Step into a brand new central CBD office with grand views of the harbour and join a fantastic team of geologists, geotechs, environmental scientists & engineers, and hydros. The job Work closely with our clients to deliver effective solutions across a broad range of technically challenging projects – everything from land development and civil infrastructure to buildings, slope instability, and remediation work. You’ll provide sound geological analysis and advice, while taking the lead on your projects, ensuring they are planned effectively and delivered to a high standard. What will you be doing? Planning and organising field investigations Geological mapping, and rock and soil characterisation Slope stability assessments & landslide hazard evaluation Interpretive reporting, providing practical recommendations Project cost management & invoicing Training & mentoring junior team members Contributing to tenders & proposal writing This role is primarily based in our Wellington CBD office, with opportunities to travel, too – across New Zealand but also into Australia, the Pacific, and the US. Required Experience Who are you? We are looking for an experienced engineering geologist with a well‑rounded consulting background. You will be comfortable managing projects of moderate scale & complexity and have fantastic technical knowledge to back it up. 7‑10 years’ experience as an engineering geologist Good knowledge of Wellington’s geology and common hazards Strong technical writing and analysis skills The ability to manage multiple projects in parallel Good commercial awareness and client consulting skills Relevant tertiary qualification and chartered (or working towards chartership) And ENGEO ENGEO is an award‑winning, employee‑owned consulting firm of more than 350 people worldwide, providing geotechnical, geological, environmental, and ground/surface water services.
