About the role Reporting to the General Manager, you’ll lead environmental management across Discover Waitomo, with a strong focus on the Waitomo Glowworm Cave, Ruakuri Cave, Aranui Cave and surrounding catchment. You’ll work closely with senior leaders, iwi, DOC, and community stakeholders to ensure environmental protection, regulatory compliance, and sustainability initiatives are delivered to the highest standard. Key responsibilities Lead environmental management across all Discover Waitomo operations Ensure compliance with Cave Management Plans, applicable regional council consenting requirements & relevant local council frameworks Deliver sustainability initiatives and continuous improvement projects Monitor and analyse environmental data (including cave climate and glowworm monitoring) Prepare and present detailed reports to internal and external stakeholders Partner with DOC, councils, landowners and industry groups (e.g. ACKMA) Lead environmental training and education programmes Manage pest control initiatives and community conservation partnerships Provide leadership, coaching and performance management for your team Contribute to capital projects and environmental improvement works What you’ll bring 5+ years’ leadership or management experience Tertiary qualification in environmental science or similar Strong data analysis and reporting capability Experience working in complex operational environments (tourism experience advantageous) Understanding of environmental compliance and consent frameworks Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills Financial and project management capabilityAbility to work effectively within Te Ao Māori Proactive, solutions‑focused mindset Why join us At Discover Waitomo, you’ll play a key role in protecting a world‑renowned environment while working alongside passionate people who value sustainability, kaitiakitanga and innovation. #J-18808-Ljbffr
